The Planets (2019)

Gustav Holst composed his seven movement Orchestral suite between 1914 and 1916. The concept behind the work is astrological rather than astronomical. Each movement is intended to convey the influence of the planets on the psyche. The name of each piece was heavily influence by books on astrology by Alan Leo. Holst referred to this suits as a ‘series of mood pictures’.

This is a series of landscape images that mirror the music or ‘mood picture’ that Holst produced. Musical notation from the score of each movement has also been incorporated into the images.
