Great news! This year I am honoured to have received the CEO's Award in the annual Heritage Bank Photographic Competition (https://www.heritage.com.au/photocomp)!
The competition has been running annually for 29 years and attracts just under 1500 entries a year. There were two categories, a theme "Passion", and an open category. The top 50 images were simply breathtaking, and I'm so honoured to be amongst them!
I took the chance to fly up to Toowoomba for the awards ceremony. Toowoomba is a regional town that has a thriving street art and cafe scene, driven no doubt by the University of Southern Queensland's students. It really is a cool little town.
The awards ceremony was held at USQ Artsworx, where all the photographs will remain on exhibition until early October.
Being slightly crazy, the morning of the awards ceremony I was up at 4am to drive 1 hour and 45 minutes out to the Killarney region to shoot a series of waterfalls - Queen Mary Falls, Dagg Falls and Browns Falls. Some great little falls that gave me a couple of great shots. A beautiful drive back through the hills to Toowoomba in time for an hour or two of sleep and then the awards!
