I recently had the pleasure of working with florist Petals by Elise in St Leonards, Victoria to provide a library of images that could be used for social media and a future website rebuild.

Elise is a boutique florist, who specialises in weddings, creating gorgeous arrangements of natives, roses and exotic flowers. Each customer is treated like family, and Elise designs floral wedding themes to suit their personality, wedding plans, and wedding location. I shot with Elise on a few different occasions, and the amount of detailed work that goes into each event was stunning. All of her arrangements are handmade, with no 'factory line' floristry by numbers.

I really enjoy this type of commercial photography, getting to know a business, it's brand and ethos and putting together a brief to visually communicate what that business stands for. In this case we wanted to present Petals by Elise as a modern, bespoke florist. We wanted to feature Elise as a key figure, highlighting her warm, sunny nature and her approachability. It was really important to highlight the bespoke nature of her work, with a lot of focus on handmade arrangements, and attention to detail. This was done by capturing Elise working with the flowers, focussing on her hands as she went through the various activities preparing flowers for weddings.

We also wanted to feature Elise setting up one of the more important parts of her business - Arbors and Floral settings. These really lift the look and feel of the ceremony, so we captured Elise preparing the flowers on the mornings of a number of weddings, again to show that she is her brand, and will personally be the one looking after all the details on the couples' big day.

Finally, we wanted to capture the Petals by Elise logo in situ as Elise worked on her flowers, to create an engaging and vibrant branding image that incorporates that sense of the bespoke nature of her work, and the gorgeous mix of flowers used to create those special arrangements.
