I entered Capture Magazine's Top Emerging Photographer competition again in 2020. This is one of the competitions that I enter in an annual basis. I enjoy entering competitions and feel that they give me something to strive for, and force me to critically review what I've been shooting over the past year. I love looking through all the entries to see the amazing work from other photographers all around Australia. I don't exactly compare my work to theirs, but it's great to get inspiration on how others see the world around them. To be able to enter this comp, you need to have less than four years of full-time experience working (or in my case - no experience!) as a professional photographer.
This year I entered a number of folios:
Documentary
Mooroopna Hospital - Highly Commended
Single Shot
A Morning Walk in Longshen - Highly Commended
Akihabara Electrnoic - Highly Commended
Travel
Scenes of Southern China - Top 10 (6th place)
Abandoned Village of Ma Wan - Top 20
You can see all of my entries below.
It's going to be a bit tricky to enter travel this year! My partner and I were due to travel to Italy for a few weeks, but then the world changed. Instead, I'm looking forward to doing a little but more 'local' travel this year.
