Landscapes
My favourite landscape images from Melbourne, Victoria and around Australia.
You Yangs Sunrise
The You Yangs to the west of Melbourne and east of Geelong in Victoria Australia. This was taken on a winter's morning. I woke up at 5am, got to the entrance of the national park by 5:30am and hiked to the top of the hill by 6:30 am to capture the sunrise. It was quite cloudy, the rising sun turned the clouds into fairy floss (cotton candy).

Tidal River Rocks
On the right day and at the right time, Tidal River at Wilsons Promontory is perfectly still and becomes a mirror. I was lucky to be there at just the right time on a winter's morning to capture this stunning scene.
Squeaky Beach Boulders
I just love the intense orange of these huge boulders. The blue light of an overcast morning created a great contrast of colours. I focussed in on the detail of two of these giant rocks, to also capture the flow of the stream emptying out into the ocean beyond.
Whisky Bay Sunset
Boulders along the end of Whisky Bay look out over the sea at the setting sun in Wilsons Promontory
The Grampians Lookout
Sometimes a bit of exploring can yield some great little finds. This shot was taken at the Grampians between the Balconies and Reeds Lookout close to sunset. Beautiful side lighting on the rocks created a path leading to a lone boulder, and off into the distant landscape beyond.

Reeds Lookout Sunset
Reeds Lookout is one of my favourite spots in the Grampians. There are great rock formations leading out into the landscape, towards the setting sun. The combination of grandeur, scale, and nature really takes your breath away.
Keppel Lookout
The early hours of dawn at Keppel Lookout. Watching the sun fill out the valley was spectacular, as was the birds' morning chorus!
MacKenzie Falls
MacKenzie Falls in the Grampians is one of the areas top attractions. Although it's a relatively short walk in terms of kms, its a little challenging going up and down the stairs on those cliffs!
Early Morning at The Balconies
One of the more famous lookouts at the Grampians - the Balconies. This was taken in the early hours before sunrise on a crisp winter's morning.
The Grampians from the Pinnacle Lookout
The Grampians are a sandstone mountain range. They were created by river sediment aeons ago, and thrust up above the plains of Western Victoria by tectonic action. They are super dramatic and make for great photography. This shot was taken on a winter's day after the arduous climb to the Pinnacle lookout.
Mount William Vista
Mount William in the Grampians is a 45 minute hike up a steep winding road. Once you get to the top, the views are incredible! This was taken before sunrise during winter, it was around 1 degree. The cold weather meant that the air was still and crisp and the view over the western plains of Victoria were breathtaking.
