Each year the City of Geelong holds a City of Geelong Calendar Competition for photographers to submit their favourite shots of Greater Geelong. The photos are then opened up to the public for a vote, with two finalists per month.
I was lucky to be a poster boy for September with this shot of the view from the summit of the You Yangs.
There were over 2000 votes, with mine hitting over 1500. YAY!
The calendar is published with the winning images and issued to over 110,000 residents.
The You Yangs to the west of Melbourne and east of Geelong in Victoria Australia. This was taken on a winter's morning. I woke up at 5am, got to the entrance of the national park by 5:30am and hiked to the top of the hill by 6:30 am to capture the sunrise. It was quite cloudy, the rising sun turned the clouds into fairy floss (cotton candy).
I'm looking forward to heading back one morning (or evening) and trying my luck again!
